A pastoral psychotherapist,
Edwin has been integrating spirituality and psychotherapy in
healing work with clients for the past twenty-five years.
He uses a variety of approaches based on the particular
needs of each client, including reflective listening, guided
imagery, story-telling, language pattern, and bilateral
stimulation and other forms of energy work.
As a private practitioner,
Edwin has a special interest in persons who have experienced a
great deal of stress, trauma or abuse in their lives.
Some of his specialized training includes recovery from
sexual abuse and other forms of trauma. He is trained in guiding
recovery from both substance and behavioral addictions. Edwin is
an Approved Supervisor for clinicians seeking licenses as
Professional Counselors, as Marital and Family Therapists or as
Licensed or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors. He is also
certified as a Domestic Violence Counselor.
He previously taught
philosophy, psychology and sociology as an Adjunct Instructor at
Redlands Community
College. He
previously worked as a contract therapist for
Community Counseling
Center, Youth Services for
Oklahoma County,
and Drug Recovery, Inc. As a priest in the
Episcopal Church, he served as Chaplain at
Presbyterian Hospital,
as Assistant Pastor at St. Mary's in Edmond,
and as interim pastor for Several Congregations in
Oklahoma including Resurrection and St.
David's Episcopal Churches in OKC.
He currently serves as
Clinical Director for Specialized Outpatient Services,
providing both agency and license supervision and leading
therapeutic groups. Edwin has served on the board of directors
for several community groups and is currently serving his second
three-year term on the national Steering Committee of the
Association for the Advancement of Psychosynthesis. At the
state level he serves on a committee formed by the Oklahoma
Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to
develop policy and procedures for welcoming, screening,
assessing and planning treatment for all clients accessing all
state-operated and state-contracted mental health and substance
abuse facilities. He is a designated Change Agent to lead SOS as
it moves into ability to treat co-occurring mental health and
substance abuse disorders.
The current focus of Edwin's
practice is
on
license supervision for
LMFT, LPC and LADC
candidates.
